Ingredients:

  • 6 pork sausages (about 400g)
  • 600g potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 200ml milk
  • 50g butter
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 500ml beef stock
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Large frying pan
  • Pot for boiling potatoes
  • Masher
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring jug

Instructions:

  • Boil the potatoes in salted water for about 15 minutes until tender.
  • While the potatoes are cooking, heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat and add the sausages. Cook for about 10-12 minutes until browned and cooked through, turning occasionally.
  • Remove the sausages from the pan and set aside. In the same pan, add the sliced onions and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir well, cooking for another minute.
  • Gradually add the beef stock, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter and milk, then mash until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve the sausages on a bed of mashed potatoes, topped with the onion gravy.
